Hey there!
I'm Nat, a British-Colombian Biologist with wanderlust, based in Bristol, UK.
I'm currently an Assistant Producer at BBC Studios' Natural History Unit, currently working in the Development Team. I'm also an active member of Filmmakers for Future: Wildlife. My most recent role was as an Assistant Producer on Big Little Journeys (BBC Studios NHU) for BBC2, which I worked on during my time on BBC Studios' Assistant Producer Accelerator Programme (APAP). The APAP was fantastic - it offered me the opportunity to develop my pitching, script writing, self-shooting and editing abilities, as well as a variety of other skills which have been extremely useful. Having been able to complete this training alongside full time work was an incredible opportunity and I've hugely enjoyed applying these learnings since. |
I have previously worked as a Senior Natural History Researcher on 'Our Oceans' (WildSpace Productions) for Netflix and a Researcher on Blue Planet Live for BBC Studios' Natural History Unit (NHU), a BAFTA Award-winning production which which aired Live on BBC1 in March 2019. Some of my other previous roles include Researcher on 'Mamas', a short-form Natural History series for Roku, NHU Development Researcher (working on brand new ideas for Nature Documentaries for a variety of channels and platforms) and Researcher for Springwatch Wild Academy. I was also a Learning Volunteer with London's Natural History Museum for many years.
My main scientific interests are in Marine Conservation (mainly Tropical Coral Reef Ecosystems), the impact of plastic pollution on Marine fauna & Science Communication. However I am passionate about conservation in general, maintaining global biodiversity and animal welfare. I'm a fluent Spanish speaker (thanks mum!), interested in travelling, writing and photography. I'm a strong advocate for LGBTQI+ rights, mental health care, diversifying the Natural History Television industry and expanding greener practices in Wildlife TV. |
